The health and safety of Burlington Taxi drivers, staff and customers are our highest priorities. We continue to monitor the rapidly evolving situation around COVID-19, and are actively following the guidance and safety recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Canada and The City of Burlington. We are responding to the ongoing guidance with the highest precautions possible, to protect our team and riders so that we may continue providing essential taxi service.

Drivers & Staff – Personal Hygiene.

Good hygiene is the first line of defense. Our protocol requires all employees to increase the frequency and duration of handwashing, keep hands away from face, use hand sanitizer with a minimum content of 60% alcohol between customers, and stay home when ill. Hand sanitizer refills are provided to Drivers 24/7 in Dispatch. Drivers have been supplied with non-medical face masks to assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19 when physical distancing is difficult to maintain.

Taxis & Drivers – Sanitation.

Taxis have been outfitted with plastic barriers to divide the driver from the rear passenger area. The barrier will include an access panel to receive payment.  Drivers are supplied with Virox 5 disinfectant to be used multi-times daily for the interior and exterior of taxis – for cleaning all surfaces that interact with people. Disinfectant refills are available 24/7 to drivers in dispatch.

Together – Protect our Community & Social Distancing.

We are in this together. To all of our valued Customers: please sit in the backseat and please manage your own baggage. If you have any symptoms (fever, dry cough or shortness of breath/breathing difficulties), have recently travelled out of the country, have been in contact with anyone who has recently travelled, or have had any other recent exposure that may have put you at risk of infection, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM TAKING A TAXI or PUBLIC TRANSIT for the recommended 2 WEEKS and your symptoms have been been resolved.

Screening: Dispatch Staff will screen all bookings to or from medical clinics and hospitals. We do not have the medical capacity to transport passengers with any related COVID-19 symptoms.

It is imperative that we work together and respect and support those in the front line of ALL community services, who put themselves at risk to do their job and support this city.

Offices & Dispatch Centre: We are also taking proactive measures for our office community and dispatch centre, increasing the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting high traffic areas and surfaces. We have a daily cleaner dedicated to disinfecting our community spaces. In-house staff have been minimized to a light operational crew to keep our service running and to allow for strict social distancing.

On behalf of all of us at Burlington Taxi, we want to thank you for helping us do our very best to keep everyone safe. We will continue to notify you immediately of any changes we make to our service.
